How to Use Pesticides in Spring Citrus?
2025-04-15 14:19
The phenological period of citrus this year is much earlier than last year, and March will experience two solar terms: the awakening of insects and the spring equinox. At present, the application of pesticides in citrus mainly promotes flower bud differentiation, protects spring shoots, prunes tree shapes, and weeds orchards.
△Climate conditions in March: Temperatures rise, with possible late spring cold spells
△Citrus phenological period in March - spring budding, flowering period (bud stage - whitening stage - full flowering stage)
△Main diseases in March: fat spot yellow spot disease, sand skin disease, anthracnose, scab disease
△Main pests in March - red spider mites, thrips, psyllids, aphids, bud maggots, root-knot nematodes
1. Opening and pruning
Do a good job of pruning. Make full use of sunny and rainless weather to prune diseased and insect-infested branches and dead branches, appropriately shorten long branches, weak branches, clustered branches, cross branches, riding branches, etc., ensure ventilation and light transmission of fruit trees after pruning, improve photosynthetic efficiency to reduce ineffective branches, improve flower quality and effectively reduce the base number of diseases and insects in the orchard. Then remove dead branches, fallen leaves, weeds, fallen leaves and rotten fruits in the orchard, and take them out of the orchard and bury them in a centralized manner.
2. Water and Fertilizer Management
Citrus consumes a lot of nutrients during the flowering period. It can be fertilized once before flowering. If the tree is not obviously lacking in fertilizer during the flowering period, no fertilizer is needed. If the tree is in good condition, it is easy to produce a large number of summer shoots. For trees with poor condition, a large amount of water-soluble fertilizer + humic acid liquid fertilizer + potassium fulvic acid can be used to supplement, so as to awaken and promote root absorption and help quickly improve the tree condition.
3. Pest and disease management
After the beginning of spring, red spider mites, thrips, psyllids, aphids, bud maggots and root-knot nematodes begin to become active, and a new round of spread of pathogens such as canker, anthrax, gray mold and foot rot begins.
